Modicane

Last night I finished up the Modicane. I had this weird idea of a modified hurricane symbol in my head. I transferred it to the body of the lamp, and out came a pretty cool graphic. Its a wood body, three planks, set on a base of concrete. The base is actually a piece of pathway stone that I reclaimed from the scrap pile. As luck would have it, I came upon a whole pile of these stones, and I'm going to integrate them into several pieces throughout the year.

I was pretty excited also last night to unveil a new piece that I've been working on. Its a bit of Americana mixed with practical applications. The whole thing is actually inspired by lobster buoy design. What's more American than a lobstering fused with a little red, white and blue? Unfortunately, there was a bit of a problem with the paint. I got a little excited and tried removing the tape before it was ready. The result was a whole lot of extra work for me. Oh well, its going to be beautiful when its finished.
